ISSAQUAH, Wash. – The North Sound SeaWolves of the PDL have announced that they have formed an affiliation with Issaquah Soccer Club to forge a new pathway for local players to compete at the highest levels.
“I have been working with Jimmy Ball (Director of Coaching for Issaquah Soccer Club) for the last three years and we have been talking for a while about uniting forces,” said SeaWolves owner Alex Silva. “ISC has hired a new Executive Director for the club, Gwynne Williams, who has great experience (including MLS) and knows as well the importance of the PDL.”
The new relationship will mean changes in several areas for the SeaWolves. The club is planning to play matches in Issaquah, and is developing a new crest as well. The possibility remains that the SeaWolves might still play a match or two in Edmonds, their home over the last two seasons. Silva will step down to an assistant coaching role and Ball will be the new head coach of the team. Williams will fill the role of SeaWolves General Manager.
The affiliation will establish a link between the best young male players at ISC (and the Eastside) and the next step along with college, playing soccer in the PDL. “To me the most important thing is to know that we all will concentrate on the development of players…Jimmy and Gwynne will be great leaders moving the organization to higher standards,” Silva said.
Issaquah Soccer Club is clearly demonstrating that they understand player development and are formulating the club to provide soccer for all levels of the game. Having the PDL team is further conformation that the club is progressive and serious in their approach to helping players that aspire to play the game in college and beyond are provided for.
“We hope that the young players in the club will have good role models to emulate and that the club will continue to grow on all fronts,” said Williams. The SeaWolves were founded in 2010 and have played in the PDL since the 2011 season. Originally the club hosted matches at Goddard Memorial Stadium in Everett. In 2012 the SeaWolves relocated their matches to Edmonds Stadium.
Issaquah Soccer Club was founded in 1980 and currently features more than 300 teams and 3,000 youth players.
